Projects: overview

Projects are one of the three tools used in Worldox to relate files. (The others are categores, and a way to relate files using menu commands or the Relations document tab.)

Each method has certain advantages, but projects may be the most flexible way to work. That is especially true if you intend to share and distribute files.

Projects are "virtual containers" - places to put Worldox-managed files for any purpose that suits you.

Projects collect files in the virtual sense only, by creating connections between already profiled documents, without moving or copying those documents.

Each named project is itself a profiled entity in Worldox. This offers real advantages in daily use, as you can search for them, and use standard Worldox tools (move, copy, et al.) to work with projects.

Projects use a proprietary file .WDL file extension. That makes it easy to search for projects using the Doc ID field on Find Files search forms.

Opening a project opens a worklist of files contained in that project. This list can be bookmarked for easy reference. (You can also open projects for editing on the Project document tab.)

Any projects saved in subscribed profile group locations display automatically in the My Workspaces zone in the left-side navigation panel.

Projects can be created in either of two ways:

By dragging and dropping files on the Projects tab.

By dragging and dropping files on My Workspaces links in the left-side navigation panel.
