The Worldox WorkZone is an icon which appears on the Windows desktop. Functionally, WorkZone is an OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) drop target. That's tech speak for "drag and drop" target. Here's the WorkZone in action.
WorkZone is a drag-and-drop alternative to copying email or other files. Documents profiled this way are in effect copied into Worldox.
• Profiling files via drag-and-drop to the WorkZone icon
• Testing applications for drag-and-drop potential
Note: You can click and drag this icon to move it around the desktop.
Select the file or files, then click the mouse button down and drag them to the WorkZone icon. When the icon changes color, release the mouse button.
Note: You can copy multiple files at once. If you select more than one, Worldox asks you to confirm your selection, in the Clarify Selection dialog. If you see this dialog, choose the appropriate option and click .
Profile the copied files.
Then, depending on how profile groups and user access are set up at your site, you could see the Select Profile Group dialog, overlying the WorkZone profile form. In the Select Profile Group dialog, double-click the profile group to which file(s) are being copied, or highlight that listing and click Select in the toolbar.
Otherwise, you go straight to the WorkZone - File Save As dialog.
Next step: Fill out the WorkZone - Save As form to finish copying the file(s).
Tip: To find a list of items just profiled through the WorkZone, double-click on the WorkZone icon. That opens the Favorite Files list, where you can select WorkZone to see files recently profiled this way. |
Not all applications work with drag-and-drop profiling.
To test an application, drag one of the files created with that application from Windows Explorer to your Windows desktop. If a valid shortcut is created (such that the file can be launched by double-clicking it) and placed on the desktop, then files created by the application should work with the Worldox WorkZone.
Example: If you drag a Word file from Windows Explorer to the desktop, you will be able to open the file by double-clicking the new shortcut icon or link. That tells you Word files can be dragged and dropped onto the WorkZone icon.
GroupWise, Outlook Express and Lotus Notes do not fully support OLE 2, and so cannot be used with WorkZone to profile email messages. However, you may drag attachments to WorkZone from any of these mail programs.
