Recent GX3 enhancements affect what you see in the left-side navigation panel, and give you new options for both viewing content and for customizing how this pane appears.
• Overview
• Changing category button order
• Set or change the auto expand navigation panel preference
• Set or change the auto expand My Computer preference
There are several options for customizing the navigation pane (the left-most pane in the Worldox window) appearance.
First, it's easy to hide the navigation panel, if you would rather maximize
screen space for displaying lists. Just click in the
toolbar, or select Show/HIde > Navigation
panel on the Display
pull-down menu. To re-open that pane, click that toolbar button
or menu choice again.
You can also manually resize the navigation panel by clicking on the right border of that pane and dragging left or right.
Depending on how Worldox is set up at your site, the part of the navigation pane above category buttons may resize automatically as you pass the mouse cursor over it - to show longer content items. If you don't want this to happen, you can change the auto expand navigation panel preference, assuming you have access rights to change preferences.
The category buttons in the navigation panel on the left side of your screen are new. They are also customizable, easily hidden or revealed. Just click the horizontal bar over category buttons and drag down:
That hides category buttons, as many as you want to hide. Drag up to reveal them again. Small icons display on the bottom frame for each hidden button:
There is another way to hide category buttons.
Tip: You can configure the navigation panel so that one or more buttons simply do not appear. |
Click
at the lower-right corner of the left-side navigation panel. That
opens the Configure
Tree Tabs dialog.
In the Configure Tree Tabs dialog, uncheck checkboxes for the buttons you do not want to see in the navigation panel. Here, for example, a user is setting the pane so that the Bookmarks and My Computer buttons will NOT appear:
Click
to save your changes.
As the dialog closes, any category buttons left unchecked no longer appear in the navigation panel.
Tip:
To see all available buttons again, Click |
Click
at the lower-right corner of the left-side navigation panel. That
opens the Configure
Tree Tabs dialog.
In the Configure
Tree Tabs dialog, click and
arrows to move buttons into the desired position, If you do not wish
to see one of these buttons, uncheck the box to the left of that button.
Click
to save your changes.
As the dialog closes, category buttons appear in the requested order.
Depending on how Worldox has been set up at your site, the navigation pane may auto expand as you roll the mouse into and out of that left-side pane.
The "navigation panell Auto Expands" preference setting controls this auto-expand behavior. If you would prefer to control and apply navigation panel sizing manually - and have the access rights to change preferences settings, here is how you check and/or change that setting:
Select Preferences > Worldox from the Edit pull-down menu. That opens the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog, where preferences are organized into categories.
In the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog:
Note: This choice may not be available to you. Only Worldox Managers have access to the Everyone tab.
Click the File List Options category in the left-side pane to open preferences for that category in the right-side pane. (Here are descriptions of what those preferences control.)
Double-click the Navigation Panel Auto Expands listing to open the Change Value dialog.
In the Change Value dialog:
Set or reset the preference.
• Select Yes or Rely on Default Setting to have Worldox automatically re-size the navigation pane on mouse rollover, or when the application re-starts..
• Or, select No to leave navigation pane sizing a strictly manual process.
Click
to make the change.
Changed preferences typically take effect immediately, as soon as the
Change Value dialog closes. If
you do not see the expected changes, select About
Worldox from the Help
pull-down menu. When the About
dialog appears, press CTRL
+ D. Then
click
on the Debug dialog. That reloads
Worldox configuration files.
Depending on how Worldox has been set up at your site, the My Computer folder-tree zone may re-open automatically as the application re-starts.
The "My Computer Auto Expands" preference setting controls this auto-expand behavior. If you would prefer to control the My Computer zone manually - and have the access rights to change preferences settings - here is how to check and/or change that setting:
Select Preferences > Worldox from the Edit pull-down menu. That opens the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog, where preferences are organized into categories.
In the Edit > Preferences > Worldox dialog:
Note: This choice may not be available to you. Only Worldox Managers have access to the Everyone tab.
Click the File List Options category in the left-side pane to open preferences for that category in the right-side pane. (Here are descriptions of what those preferences control.)
Double-click the My Computer Auto Expands listing to open the Change Value dialog.
In the Change Value dialog:
Set or reset the preference.
• Select Yes or Rely on Default Setting to have Worldox automatically re-open the My Computer in the navigation panel when the application re-starts.
• Or, select No to control the My Computer zone manually.
Click
to make the change.
Changed preferences typically take effect immediately, as soon as the
Change Value dialog closes. If
you do not see the expected changes, select About
Worldox from the Help
pull-down menu. When the About
dialog appears, press CTRL
+ D. Then
click
on the Debug dialog. That reloads
Worldox configuration files.
